40. If I had known... I wish I had known... , ex2

Hi, Ben. Thanks for asking about my interview on Wednesday. Unfortunately, it didn't go well. I really wish I'd done better in it, but I can't change anything now. I went to bed very late on Tuesday night, wich was a mistake. If I had gone to bed earlier, I would have woken up earlier. And if I had woken up earlier, I might have had a better day!

I got dressed really quicly, and rushed out of the house. I wish I had checked the train timetable before I left. When I got to the station, I had to wait half an hour for the train. If I had looked at the timetable, I would have had more time to get ready.

I wish I had shaved more carefully and had some breakfast. If I had had breakfast, I wouldn't have bought a cup of coffee at the station. I knocked it over, and spilt the coffee on my trousers.

I wish that I hadn't forgotten to take the directions to the company's office. If I'd had them, I wouldn't have spent a long time looking for the office. It was raining. And when I got to their office, I was very wet.

I wish I had taken an umbrella. And if I hadn't forgotten my mobile phone, I could have phoned them to say I was late.

In the interview, I couldn't answer a lot of the questions. I wish that I had prepared more for it. If I'd done more preparation, I would feel much happier now, and I might have got the job. I hope your day was better than mine.

See you soon. Matthew.
